This course is next offered Spring 2025.
This is a lecture course with opportunities for discussion. Enrollment is approximately 36 students. If you are interested in enrolling, the best advice is to rank it high during pre-registration and/or during the adjustment period. If you do not obtain a seat during pre-registration or adjustment and still wish to take the course should an opening become available, the final opportunity is during drop/add. If you don’t have a seat, and want to send a request, you are welcome to send me an e-mail explaining your reasons for wanting to enroll. Please note that while I may not respond to your e-mail request, I will definitely read and consider it. Factors in allocating seats may include major, class year, ranking during pre-reg, and prior attempts to get a seat. It is advisable to leave your name in the enrollment requests because that allows me to reach out to students in the event a seat opens up during the first week of the semester.
If you wish to try for a seat during drop/add, do both of the following:
(1) Request the course when drop/add opens.
(2) If you don’t have a seat, please don’t show up for the first class – I reach out to students prior to the first class to enroll them; if you have not heard from me, that means that there is not a seat available.
(3) Please note that I don’t allow students to “sit in” or audit this course.
Please be assured that while I do not keep a formal wait-list, I do my best meet the needs of the many (priority may be given to psychology major seniors and juniors, or to those who have tried to enroll previously, especially if they have tried on multiple occasions and if they have ranked the course high).
Behavioral Methods in Affective Neuroscience [PSYC392/NS&B392]
This next offering of this course will be in Spring 2025
For purposes of future planning, note that this course is an advanced research methods class that requires POI, ideally suited for those interested in pursuing graduate study in clinical science (Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D.), or in cognitive or affective neuroscience. This is not an appropriate course for those primarily seeking clinical experience. For this advanced research methods, successful completion of a statistics and methods is expected. In addition, completion of PSYC251 and NS&B213/BIOL213/PSYC240 will prepare you for this course and increase your chance to obtain a seat.
Neural Costs of War [PSYC329/NS&B329]
This next offering of this course has not been determined.
This is a seminar course requires Permission of Instructor (“POI”). A background in behavioral neuroscience [NS&B213/BIOL213/PSYC240] and psychopathology [PSYC251] are encouraged, and try to plan ahead by best preparing with the appropriate coursework. If you are interested in taking this course, request a POI and then download and complete this form, and then return to me via e-mail. All enrollment decisions are finalized prior to the first day of class.
